Con Recap: Nekocon 2013

Sunday, November 10, 2013

Hey guys!

I'm back from Nekocon and still not completely back on my regular schedule but I'm posting this so there you are.

Here's a few of the things I sold at my table! It was my first time not sharing a table and a feel pretty proud of myself. Like a "no more training wheels kinda feeling." As per usual, all the overflow is on sale at my store~!

I also tried my best to attain all the Kaiju/Pacific Rim stuff I could get my hands on @_@. I got the little Knifehead (on the left) from the magnificent creature (on the right) Sarah of Studio Kitsu! He's so damn cuddly <3

I also got a "Kaiju Salvage Crew" t-shirt from the kind folks at the Aardvark table in the dealer's room! And this little fat martini dragon from my pal Dizziness! I've decided to name him Dragno. This is best name.

I also got a pita pouch from an adorable charity activity at the con! The theme this year was Matsuri so there were some fun things you could do for a a couple dollars like goldfish scooping! The awesome thing is all the proceeds went to charity. I also picked up this adorable Takeo pencil pouch because he's my favorite Neko mascot, and this cute little hat!

Annnnnnnnnnd much to my surprise some of the artwork I did for Neko this year ended up on the Vendor's Badges!!! I was turbo excited when I saw this and asked someone for a quick pic (and they just happened to be the Otakon vendor lol).

If you want to see how more of my art was used at Neko click right here!

It was so awesome to see you guys again and meet new peeps too! I can't wait until next year.
See you guys at Ring of Fire!

Festival Recap: DC Veg Fest

Monday, October 14, 2013

Hey guys!

Lots of recaps lately... I went to DC VegFest with my strict vegetarian pal Maumau the Vege and a few other friends recently. It was my first vegetarian event since becoming pescatarian in 2008! It was nice to be around other people who when you tell them you're pescatarian they don't make the stupid pescatarian/presbyterian joke (first time is funny, 13 or more times it's annoying).

There were so many awesome set ups and so much food! There were people serving coconut milk out of actual coconuts (like the guy had a machete and would hack them open for patrons).

I was able to restock on my new favorite Thai Chili sauce Apinya! I'm totally regretting not buying 2 bottles because my first is already half gone. :/ I don't buy condiments typically because of the ingredients but it's 100% vegetarian so no worries there~

Overall I had a really great time and plan on going next year since it was free!

Con Recap: Small Press Expo 2013

Another con recap!

I've been a very busy bee. This was actually my very first time attending SPX so Iw as supper excited. I met up with a couple friends and wandered around the space snapping pictures and picking up freebies which were given out like candy (and in some cases were candy).

I saw a lot of awesome artists, many of whom were from the DC area. There were so many interesting styles that of course it made me want to go home and draw like crazy, which I did.

I ran into some familiar faces too which is always nice~! I stopped and chatted with my buddy Brian about his comic bookery and such. Afterwards I just chilled with Sako for a bit.

It's nice to just attend cons sometimes too. This is actually the first time I've actually gone to a con and wasn't selling anything. 'Course it won't be like that next year because I fully intend to sell there next year!

Con Recap: Otakon 2013

Monday, September 30, 2013

Time  for a much overdue con recap!

This year my circuit included Otakon as per usual. I shared a table in the  alley all 3 days with my good friend JenovaSilver who also asked me to participate in helping host a panel. I have to tell you, I've never had so much fun talking to a large group of people in my life! Thank you to everyone who came out I hope we were able to teach you something new and interesting!

I couldn't believe so many people showed up the line went all the way down the hall (so you know, no pressure!) I wasn't staff this year so I stayed behind the table for the majority  of my time and met some of the nicest most hilarious people.

Most of my stuff is towards the bottom there...

I'm so grateful to Jenos for letting me share with her! I'm going to take everything I learned and use it towards having my own table (for the first time) at Nekocon this year! I'm nervous but excited~

It was a lot of prepwork since I hadn't originally planned on going in the first place but well worth it to meet and hang out with so many of you!

Until next year!

Con Recap: Nekocon 2012

Tuesday, November 20, 2012

Hey guys!

I've valiantly returned from Nekocon I tried to take things that I learned from going to cons and selling earlier this year and applying them now. The first thing I learned was that you need to be organized. So organized. Like almost to the point of ADHD. And the best way for me to do that is with a list.

The list below is made by me and is pintable (an indeed editable).

It's in EPS format so you can change characters or colors or whatevs.

I also got business cards this year and tried to have an organized set up with my commission list and price list and binder. (I try and have my original art and fanart clearly labeled to avoid confusion.)

DizziNess ended up basically creating mine and Jackie's set up (since I've never worked with grids before). There were lots of gaps since my prints were so small and my badges took up a lot of space (I didn't realize I had so many).

My  half of the display was on the right the covering cloths belong to Jackie (next time I think i'll bring an obnoxious pink one so it ties in with the rest of my display).

I was also asked to do a little official art for Nekocon proper! My art was in the conbook along with that of my friend JenovaSilver and many other talented arters.

Some of my work is below:

That's not all the art I did and I'm not even sure if everything I did got used but seeing it used in the book and on the charity jar made me super happy <3 p="p">

You can type any information you would like here. I can't do that as Bruce Wayne... as a man. I'm flesh and blood. I can be ignored, destroyed. But as a symbol, I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting.
