Festival Recap: DC Veg Fest

Monday, October 14, 2013

Hey guys!

Lots of recaps lately... I went to DC VegFest with my strict vegetarian pal Maumau the Vege and a few other friends recently. It was my first vegetarian event since becoming pescatarian in 2008! It was nice to be around other people who when you tell them you're pescatarian they don't make the stupid pescatarian/presbyterian joke (first time is funny, 13 or more times it's annoying).

There were so many awesome set ups and so much food! There were people serving coconut milk out of actual coconuts (like the guy had a machete and would hack them open for patrons).

I was able to restock on my new favorite Thai Chili sauce Apinya! I'm totally regretting not buying 2 bottles because my first is already half gone. :/ I don't buy condiments typically because of the ingredients but it's 100% vegetarian so no worries there~

Overall I had a really great time and plan on going next year since it was free!

Con Recap: Small Press Expo 2013

Monday, October 7, 2013

Another con recap!

I've been a very busy bee. This was actually my very first time attending SPX so Iw as supper excited. I met up with a couple friends and wandered around the space snapping pictures and picking up freebies which were given out like candy (and in some cases were candy).

I saw a lot of awesome artists, many of whom were from the DC area. There were so many interesting styles that of course it made me want to go home and draw like crazy, which I did.

I ran into some familiar faces too which is always nice~! I stopped and chatted with my buddy Brian about his comic bookery and such. Afterwards I just chilled with Sako for a bit.

It's nice to just attend cons sometimes too. This is actually the first time I've actually gone to a con and wasn't selling anything. 'Course it won't be like that next year because I fully intend to sell there next year!

Birthday Weekend!

Monday, August 20, 2012

So my birthday was Thursday August 16th! All my friends tried their best to help me celebrate it and I was super grateful! My work homies got me an Angry Birds cake that was actually a bunch of cupcakes! Pretty damn cool!
That's my Art Director making the face in the bottom right. He is a fucking adult.

Then on Sadurday night I met up with some of my oldest friends for our monthly Bitch and Wine! My besty and her mom (top left) brought our collective niece, Cara the cutie (in the picture second to the left saying 'Cheers!' with he beautiful Mommy) some pretty dresses which Cara let me have them (second picture from the bottom).

I've known these wonderful ladies going on 17 years, I love them so much!

Janine and her mom took me with them to Dave and Busters and the Live Casino at Arundel Mills in Maryland! Everyone tried their hardest to make sure I had a good birthday.

All in all, an awesome 26th Birthday weekend! Looking forward to turning 27 already!

Comic Cube

Wednesday, August 8, 2012

So as I was saying last post, I've been cleaning up and trying to organize my studio. I have 2 of those Mainstay's cube thingers that I was using as a book case at my old place. Here I've decided to use it hose all my old sketchbooks, Art books, and art supplies. I had an idea to paint the interior of certain cubes but then I looked at my stack of old comics and got another idea...

I used a butt-load of white acryllic paint and now that I've done it I know what I'll do differently with the rest.

Thanks for looking guys!

I like to move it, move it!

Thursday, June 28, 2012

This post is 1/2 advertisement 1/2 reminder to my friends to remind them that I'm moving and need help! I've been packing my things up until today and I think I'm pretty much ready! But you know there's always something that happens and makes you freak out at the last minute. Not looking forward to that part...

Anyway, I'm moving to be closer to my job! It really is a great gig and I hope to be there for a long time! If anyone  needs my cell#, new address, longitute lattitude, whatever! Now is a good time to ask!

Thanks to all the peeps who are helping me! There'll be pizza beer and tea/lemonade as refreshments at my new digs! I'll take lots of pics!

Drink and Draw v2

Thursday, June 16, 2011

Now with more New Apartment!

Since the last D&D was at the Haus of Mau I decided to host this one at my new place! I moved in this past week and can't think all of my friends enough for their help!

So of course any occasion warrants a new 'ad' type thinger...! This is the one I went with:

Although I had a crappier place-holderish one before that:

Enjoy~!

Hardly Working 2

Wednesday, May 25, 2011

Have some doodles my and my co workers did.

I lovingly drew our Graphics team. (L to R) Myself, Freud, and Dammit Chris.

Freud drew this one. It's an intricate system of pipes that leads from under his desk directly to my face (?) in case he farts.

I'm not amused!

More mAlice Doodles

Monday, May 23, 2011

Super serious notes from a work meeting!

Dhu-nuh-nuh-nuh-BATMAN!

So...Chris S., Marcus, Danni, and Chris W., were at Mau's house watching 'Batman the Movie' and this of course spurred doodles of every kind...

(this was a request from Marcus lol)

And this one was a collab between me and Chris Scott. I like old school-Robin's costume.

But not old school Robin.

Hardly Working

Thursday, May 19, 2011

We work on a lot of Kid-related projects at my job and of course we have to test out the 'product' to see if it'll work for the kids...right?

We did some home made play-doh and these are the results:
Left to right Heart, Strawberry. Elephant, Doggy, Maki Sushi, Nigiri Sushi, Snake, and a Snail!

We made them together...
The end results were good but all over the office and our hands!

No Sh!t Sherlock!

Wednesday, May 18, 2011

New current TV obsession BBC's Sherlock! I'm always tardy to the party...but in case you are somehow as late as me; Sherlock is a modern take on the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. There's lots of texting, general shenanigans, and free-running. In short-I'm in love.

I had (yet another) allergic reaction to something and found my face swollen when I woke up. I feel quite like a prisoner n my own home. Luckily- I was able to work from home today and (thankfully) I finished everything I needed to and had time left to slip into a Benedryl induced coma draw.

So have some doodles:

So first up is Dr. Watson! Love his striped sweater~!
This has probably been done before but, Holmes in Prof. Layton's clothes. The 2 love puzzles and were clearly made fore each other.

And a completed (-ish) ink of Mr. Holmes.

Enjoy.

Harry Potter 7 1 of 2 and Cirque Du Soleil

Monday, April 25, 2011

I thought I'd write this while waiting for adobe cs5 master collection to install. I went to Cirque du Soleil with my co-worker Antonia and we had a BLAST. I would really like to go again but at $160 a ticket i'm more than happy to relive it in my mind...

The acrobatics were amazing (as per usual) as always and the theme was 'Totem' so there were lots of cool Native American skits and dances. I feel like suck a little kid whenever I watch things like this. 'Tonia and I were openly amazed at the stunts and flips performed (much tot he dismay of the 'cool' teenagers sitting next to us). Anyway, I can't wait till next year for the next one!

I spent my Easter with Janine and we watched the 7th Harry Potter movie as I'd never seen it before. It was almost like I'd imagined and I was fairly happy with it. Having read all the books I don't put much stock in the movies but I often feel like if I hadn't read all the books before seeing the movies I wouldn't know what was going on.

Anyway....
I drew Ron and Hermione and I might finish this. I have no idea what to draw for Otakon. :<

Dinner with Father Mudd

Friday, March 4, 2011

This past weekend I accompanied my best friend, Janine, to mass and found out that her mother was having the priest and some friends over for supper. So I whipped out my camera and made everyone nervous lol.

The daughter of the hostess welcoming me in <3

Taking time to admire recent renovations to the house...

Food was either brought by friends or made at Janni's house.

The completed meal (those dumplings were so good >_<).

The Father making this face: >_<

All in all a wonderful time and a delicious meal <3

Art Jams After Dark...

Thursday, February 24, 2011

...awww yeah. Me and a few friends from school (namely Chris and Sako) started an artjam with a few more of our other friends. We do these artjams around midnight to 3am so lately I've been too tired from work to participate but here's a few pics for our previous prompts: One of the first prompts was 'Venom'. I love Venom because he hates Spiderman as much as I do.

The Cap'n was also one of the first prompts. Unfortunately, I know almost nothing about Captain America. So I went with what I did know, cereal!

My convo with Chris prior to this image: Chris: ok you must do it tonight Me: I know nothing of the cap'n tho imma noob v_v Chris: White dude, silly suit, big damn shield... Me:*just draws the green arrow* Chris: ...square jaw. Me: Eating an apple pie and punching a terrorist right?

RIGHT!?

POISON

Wednesday, February 23, 2011

Did you know the word 'Gift' is 'poison' in German?

These are 2 poisons for 2 of my best friends:
Also I made a camera case out of felt. The flash thinger is a sequin: Laters

Otter-Story Follow-up!

Monday, February 21, 2011

Heya guys! I thought I'd show you what I've done on my project with Animajam! I haven't been working steadily because of my recently acquired job (hold your applause till the end of the post please) but I managed a couple of backgrounds: And I finalized the little lad as well... Here's the story for my part of the project. We all did visuals with our stories for some (or no) reason. This was only meant to be read by the other artists: Well there ya go! I think that's a pretty good post. Enjoy!

Sweet Little Cuppencakes

Don't judge me.

You can type any information you would like here. I can't do that as Bruce Wayne... as a man. I'm flesh and blood. I can be ignored, destroyed. But as a symbol, I can be incorruptible, I can be everlasting.
